Riikka Sormunen

This weeks artist crush (sorry about all the skipped weeks, my mistake) is Riikka Sormunen.

Her art intrigues me so much, every time I look at it I find something new in each piece. Every piece tells a story, I find myself trying to create a new one for each painting.
Here's a few of my favourites.

To see more of her work visit her site.

Hope you all enjoyed it, have a great week!

Struggling

Giving up doesn't mean that you're weak,

Sometimes it means your strong enough to let go.

It is a matter of deciding when you can handle the struggle,

Of being alone in a frame of mind that no one can fully understand.

And knowing who to ask for a hug.

Some visual inspiration if you feeling a little heart sick today.

Princess For a Day

So it has been a very long time since I posted, which I apologize for. My life just got a head of me for a few weeks. In light of this absence I thought it would be good to revert back to childhood and be a princess for a day. Hope all you lovelies enjoy.

Lets play the if "I were a princess for a day" game:

I would live in a beautiful castle

And host elegant tea parties

After which I would wear a gorgeous dress to a masquerade ball

And fall into bed with a gorgeous prince

All photo's from PlasticTeacups

Well that's enough daydreaming for one afternoon.
What would your day as a princess involve?

Chelsee Ivan

The talented Chelsee Ivan is this weeks photo feature.

My blog has been so sunny an cheerful lately and todays chilliness reminded me we are just emerging from a very cold winter. So I though Canadian photographer Chelsee Ivans photos were a great way to show the Canadian seasons from a prairie perspective.

Hopefully the stunning lighting and subjects in her photography inspire all you lovely people to get creative and push past the midweek moodiness.

You can check out Chelsee's portfolio or visit her flickr which has a ton more beautiful photos by this talented Alberta College of Art and Design student.

Happy Wednesday lovelies,
I have an exam to study for now... wish me luck.

Summer Poetry

So I thought since summer is on its way and most people's themes these days seem to be warm, fun in the sun, I would share one of my favourite poems about watermelon, well sort of about watermelon. I find this poem really interesting. It has many underlying meanings and intentions.

For me poetry is all about how you as an individual understand it, not by how we are told to understand it. Let me know if you like it.

Thanks to all my followers and people that comment, you guys make blogging a hole lot more fun.

Weekly Artist Crush: Marion Bolognesi

This weeks artist crush...
Marion Bolognesi was born in the Netherlans, she now gathers inspiration in the State of New York. She paints amazing water-colour works, and her newest collection really stood out.
The water-colour eye series caught my... well eye.
I think they really capture the character of the person she's painted.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

Moving the mundanity of monday malaise

In honour of it being Monday and most of us probably needing a pick me up, I though I would provide our brains with some visual inspiration and a reason to continue working for the rest of the week.

Visual Inspiration:

An awesome tumblr account updated regularly with stunning, sometimes hauntingly beautiful, photos or phrases.
